Standard 5.6 Praxis® Examination Pass Rate
Standard 5.6 Praxis® Examination Pass Rate
The program ensures that the percentage of test-takers who pass the Praxis® Subject Assessments in speech-language pathology meets or exceeds the CAA’s established threshold of 80%, as averaged over the three most recently completed academic years.
To monitor and sustain this standard, the program has implemented the following plan:
The program uses the annual Praxis® Institutional Summary Report to monitor pass rates and ensure compliance with accreditation standards. The Administrative Assistant compiles the data into an Excel spreadsheet, tracking the percentage of students who pass each year and calculating the three-year average.
Mechanisms for Analyzing Praxis Pass Rates and Identifying Program Improvements:
Annual Faculty ReviewFaculty members review Praxis® pass rates annually to assess program effectiveness and determine whether curriculum adjustments or enhancements are needed to better prepare students for the exam.
Data-Driven Decision-Making
If the three-year average pass rate falls below the CAA’s 80% threshold, faculty will analyze trends in the data to identify specific areas where students may be underperforming.
Curriculum Evaluation
The program will evaluate whether gaps in coursework, clinical preparation, or student support services may contribute to lower pass rates.
Improvement Plan Development
If the threshold is not met, the program will create a detailed improvement plan. This plan may include curriculum modifications, additional exam preparation resources, enhanced clinical experiences, or targeted student support interventions.
By regularly analyzing Praxis® pass rates and using the data to inform decisions, the program ensures continuous improvement and maintains compliance with the CAA’s standards.
