Standard 5.5 Program Completion Rate
The MS-SLP program follows the CAA's established threshold, which requires that at least 80% of students must have completed the program within the program's published timeframe. The Program Director oversees the tracking and documentation of student progress, admissions, and program outcomes, supported by administrative staff and university systems.
Admissions and Student Tracking
The Program Director maintains admission records, while student enrollment and progression data are tracked using IBM Cognos Business Intelligence software.
Cohort Progression: Students are expected to progress through the program as a cohort, completing their degree in six semesters (non-thesis) or seven semesters (thesis). Exceptions are made for approved leaves of absence, with time-to-completion tracked individually.
Student Departures
The Program Director documents reasons for program withdrawal (academic, clinical, personal, etc.) through exit surveys and interviews. These data are included in the annual report and maintained by the Administrative Assistant and the College of Graduate Education and Research.
Program Evaluation and Improvement
Completion Rate Monitoring: The program evaluates completion rates during the annual retreat. If completion rates fall below expectations, the Program Director will develop a remediation plan to address contributing factors.
Data Sources: Graduation rates, reasons for leaving, and feedback from exit surveys are used to identify areas for improvement.
This system ensures comprehensive tracking of student progress and outcomes while enabling data-driven decisions to improve program quality and support student success.
