Standard 4.7 Student Progress Documentation
The program ensures comprehensive documentation of student progress toward completing the graduate degree and meeting professional credentialing requirements.
Tracking Systems
- NMU Degree Audit System: Students and advisors can monitor academic progress toward degree completion.
- Educational Success Platform (ESP): Tracks course grades, academic progress, and degree audits, ensuring students meet master’s degree requirements.
- CALIPSO: Tracks clinical education, including student clock hours, Knowledge and Skills Acquisition (KASA) requirements, and cumulative evaluations.
- KASA Summary Form: Documents progress toward ASHA certification standards and is managed by academic advisors under the supervision of the Program Director and Director of Clinical Education.
- Program requirements for the master’s degree, ASHA certification, and Michigan licensure are outlined in the program handbook.
- The Administrative Assistant maintains Graduate Student Files, including folders for academic and clinical objectives with signed documentation.
Praxis Examination
Students are advised to take the Praxis exam during their final semester, as a
passing score is required for ASHA certification and Michigan licensure. Praxis
scores must be sent to NMU and the Michigan Board of Speech-Language Pathology
Licensing and Regulatory Affairs.
Compliance and Certification
Per the United
States Department of Education, state licensure compliance is updated annually
and will be available through the School of Clinical Sciences website. The Program Director will verify program completion for ASHA
certification and licensure applications.
